2025-7-28
The mold industry, with the “13th Five Year Plan” as the main body, will become stronger in China. Based on the process and steps of deepening reform, innovation, scientific development, and accelerating informationization transformation and upgrading of industry backbone enterprises, we will continue to implement strategic projects to promote exports and further improve the level of mold production for application programs. Informationization, standardization, and automation technologies have promoted significant progress in enterprise management, technical level, product quality, and production efficiency. The “13th Five Year Plan” is a critical period for China’s economic transformation and upgrading, as well as an important stage for the transformation of the mold industry from large to strong.
Progress and gap coexist
During the 12th Five Year Plan period, China’s extrusion die industry has achieved a series of accomplishments. The industrial economy operates stably. In 2015, the economic growth of the mold industry was 5.1%, with a total sales volume of 171.8 billion yuan. During the 12th Five Year Plan period, the sales revenue of China’s mold industry reached around 174 billion yuan, and the export value reached 4 billion US dollars.
The growth of the backbone enterprise team in the industry. At present, there are about 30000 mold manufacturing enterprises in China. According to incomplete statistics, there are about 000 mold enterprises in China with an output value exceeding 20 million yuan, including more than 300 high-tech enterprises and 33 listed companies mainly engaged in mold manufacturing. During the 12th Five Year Plan period, 18 more companies were added to further improve the industry management level. Compared with the 11th Five Year Plan, the labor productivity of all employees in the mold industry has increased by about 5 percentage points. The extension of the industrial chain centered on mold technology has optimized the technical and industrial structure of the mold industry, and extended the mold industry to the field of product manufacturing, achieving rapid development. In terms of technological progress, the research and development system of China’s extrusion mold industry is increasingly perfect, and key technologies have made breakthroughs. In addition, the market-oriented production and cluster development model of China’s mold industry further established the competitiveness of mold industry clusters in the the Pearl River Delta, the Yangtze River Delta and the Bohai Sea Rim, and further improved the rapid development of mold production in the two new mold industry clusters from Wuhan, Changsha to (Chengdu), Chongqing (Chongqing), accounting for more than 90% of the rapid development of molds in China.
